Who Are We?
 

Anna's family has been dairy farming for nearly 100 years.  After more than a decade dealing with the hustle and bustle of life in the fast lane, Anna decided in 2005 to trade away the Big City for the slower-paced life of Pennwood Farm.

Pennwood Farm is home to goats, chickens, sheep, turkeys, ducks, and one dog that chases all the other animals around.

What Do We Do?

Currently Pennwood Farm produces fresh free-range eggs, herbs, and heirloom vegetables grown without the use of artificial fertilizers and chemicals.  With our signature brand of Pennwood Puritanicals, we offer unique hand-crafted soaps, lip balm, herbal bath teas, and lotion.  We also produce a whole bunch of very cute goat babies each year!

We are proud to contribute to consumers' desire to purchase fresh and wholesome products locally from small family farms.

Why Handcrafted Soap?

• Commercially sold soaps are manufactured from all or mostly all synthetically engineered detergents.
• Handcrafted soaps are just that - made by hand in small batches.  Many soaps are considered artistic creations!
• Handcrafted soaps are almost always biodegradable which is good for the environment.

Why Goat's Milk Soap?

• Goat's milk contains essential amino acids, Vitamins A, C, B1, B6, B12, and E.
• Soap made with goat's milk contains natural emollients like glycerin.  Glycerin is important for moisturizing and is removed from commercial soap.
• Goat's milk naturally contains caprylic acid which helps to maintain the soap's pH similar to your skin's own pH.
• Goat's milk soaps are frequently recommended by dermatologists for those who suffer with skin conditions.

• We start with more than a full ounce of goat's milk in every bar.  It's our #1 ingredient!
• We balance all the vegetable oils in our bars so that you get just the right amount of cleansing, bubbling, and moisturizing.
• Our soap contains ingredients grown right on our small family farm - from the milk that comes from our herd of very spoiled Nubian goats to the herbal ingredients.  All the herbals grown on our farm are nurtured along without the use of artificial fertilizers or chemicals.
• We never use powdered or canned milk in our soaps.  We prepare our fresh full cream milk almost immediately after it fills the milk bucket!
